Where would your like to visit most? EnglandWalesScotlandNorthen IrelandThe UK - Can you see each of the countries in this video? In Science we are learning about materials, have a look at the video and games below to learn a little more. http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks2/science/materials/material_properties/play/ Click the image to have a go at the Hour of Code Version of Lightbot.
Different versions can be found in the links below. Free Version link (Apple) Paid Version (Apple) Google Play Version (Android) Kindle Version The holidays are a time to recharge, to experience new things and gain new life experiences. These experiences provide the stimuli to write creatively and provide rich learning experiences in themselves that they cannot get within a classroom. The activities below are optional resources that you can play online, download, print and complete at home. If you do feel that you need to go over some of the basics over this time, please do so at your own pace and alongside your child. Do not send this work to their teachers after they have completed it, this is purely for reinforcement at home. Yellow coloured text include hyperlinks to websites and activities that you can use, click on them to open new pages. Images of activities and websites will also be hyperlinked and can be opened by clicking them. ReadingRead, read, read! There are loads of books you can pick up and read over the holidays, if you're in and around the same place you could even go and visit a library during those rainy days! If you'd like to purchase some great value books, why not have a look at The Book People who have a wide array of books available to purchase at very reasonable prices! There is the great app EPIC which gives you great access to loads of books, while if you are missing Biff and Chip you could also look at the Oxford Owl Free eBooks to ensure you don't miss them! The Library have also pointed the children towards the activities available in the Capstone Interactive Library, with the username being summer18 and the password is lovetoread (You can download as an app too...) Obviously Kindle, Audiable and iTunes also provide a wealth of purchasable content too... A Selection of Comprehension Activities
WritingPostcards, a diary, retelling stories with a twist, creating poetry, extending sentences to add more detail, thinking about sentences that add senses and show rather than tell. There are lots of ways to keep writing going, what normally gets the best if the writer is a stimuli that means something to them. Can they retell their favourite film or create their own episodes of a favourite cartoon or program? Can they explain in detail all the exciting things they've done, how things tasted, how the weather was and how they felt? Writing Activities ideas (Scholastic) A few writing resources... |

Sneaky look at Science
Why not draw plants you can see, sketch something or make a model out of Plasticine. You could create a comic about your adventures (exaggerating a little of course!), make a video or tell me about a good book you've read.
But MORE importantly, have a break, recharge and come back
ready to give your all in our final term together in Year 2
and show us that you are ready for Year 3!
