Year 2 will be sharing all of their findings and facts onto their classes Padlet as part of our work on collaboration and sharing information. They will start this off in Computing sessions in class and then develop their skills of typing, creating images or editing and saving images and work to share. They might even include links to videos or games! Which class will have the most information and the best looking page?
The children will be looking at a variety of different types of puppets in the hope that they will create their own during their Design Technology unit. Look at the videos below to see how puppets are used to educate and entertain, and see if you can identify the different parts that each puppet has. Dear Parents A warm welcome to Year 2 and we hope that you and your family have had a fantastic summer. We are all really excited to have your children in our year group and we have lots of fantastic activities planned for the rest of the school year. If you have any questions regards to these, I am sure that your child’s class teacher will be only too happy to help. PE and specialist subjects Please see below for details of the arrangements for your child’s sports lessons which start tomorrow Monday 11th September: As well as sports lessons, the children in Year 2 will have many other opportunities to be taught by specialist teachers which include Arabic, Music, Islamic studies, with French being a new addition to these subjects this year.
Reading and Phonics Like all other year groups, reading will be a high priority in Year 2 and this week the Year 2 Team will be listen to all children read. We will begin sending reading books home from Sunday 17th September. The children’s reading folders and diaries will contain details of the specific day that your child’s book will be changed which will depend on their reading level. Library sessions will begin during the second week. As in Year 1, the children will be grouped according to their needs for phonic lessons which will commence at the beginning of week 3. Again, please talk to your child’s class teacher if you have any further questions with regard to reading and phonics. Uniform and Snack Boxes If you haven’t already done so please can you ensure that you have named all items of your child’s school uniform and sports kit along with any other personal items they bring to school e.g. water bottles, snack boxes etc. This really helps us to locate lost items and saves a build- up of lost property. The children will have plenty of opportunities to eat their snacks throughout the school day and all staff will ensure that children are eating enough during this time. We appreciate that you will be providing them with a variety of healthy options in line with the school Healthy Eating Policy. We all really appreciate the support that you offer and we are looking forward to developing closer links with you as the school year progresses. A strong parent/school partnership is of great importance and helps your children achieve their full potential. Finally, looking ahead this term an important date for your diary is the Parent Information Evening on Tuesday, 19th September at 6 pm in the Year 2 Area. Kind regards The Year 2 team |
